It's a lovely place so you can have a great day and then round it off with a brilliant evening out. If a band you love are playing there then take a trip to Stavanger. I think we are going back to play more shows there in 2015 and I for one cannot wait. If you are there just GO! You will not experience another concert hall like this for its size of just 850 seats anywhere in the world. I would go and see absolutely ANY show in Stavanger if I was visiting just to go into this hall. (Hammersmith Apollo, you listening?) In the venue the seats are fantastically comfortable. Even the dressing rooms are pure class and trust a lot of venues have pretty shoddy dressing rooms. The speakers, stage area are all amazing. Why? For starters the facilities are absolute state of art. I can tell you as a musician that this place is probably the best place I have ever played. I expect most people review based on their experience as a visitor. The design was carried out in collaboration with Kahle Acoustic and Akukon.Ok let me be straight I played drums in this hall on a sold out Elvis Tribute show in February 2014. The foundations are also separated from the quay, to avoid noise from ships to the quay interfering with the activities in the house.įartein Valen has received several honorable mentions for his excellent room acoustics. The outer walls are double and the outer skull around the concert hall is vibration-insulated from the inner to provide good attenuation of ambient noise. The halls are acoustically separated so that you can have a Rock Concert in Zetlitz without exceeding the strict requirement for background noise of 15 dB in Fartein Valen. In Aftenposten, the Oslo Philharmonic's director Ingrid Røynesdal, chief conductor Vasily Petrenko and pianist Leiv Ove Andsnes have selected Stavanger Concert Hall as one of Europe's 10 best. For Fartein Valen, this also includes the opportunity to raise and lower the entire ceiling. The Fartein Valen orchestra hall has a capacity of 1500 people, and is a classical concert hall with optimal acoustics for the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. 1500 listeners in each Fartein Valen which is optimized for acoustic music and Zetlitz which is an advanced multi-purpose hall that can be adapted e.g. The Zetlitz hall is highly versatile with the ability to adjust both size and acoustics, so that it is just as suitable for rock concerts with up to 1900 spectators as for an opera for 700. The concert hall in Stavanger was completed in 2012. One of Europe's 10 greatest concert halls.
